Last year – 2019 – was a very special year! Early in the year I learned I was going to be a grandmother for the first time! Finally! LOL. Thrilled with the news, I decided to funnel my glee toward a new, mini series of paintings. Thus “Camargue – Mares and Foals” became my special project.
I’m happy to report my granddaughter was born in June and is thriving under the loving care of my daughter and son-in-law.
Finding ideas for my series was easy! That awesome trip to the Camargue in Southern France included a photo session where our small troupe of photographers were trucked (in the back of a pickup) to a huge pasture with mares and foals roaming free. Looking through my many photos from that morning it was easy to find ones to use as reference material for paintings. Here are some of my favorite paintings in the series.

Learn more about these famous horses…
Because I love horses, reading about the White Horses of the Camargue was a real thrill. I’m so fortunate to have gotten to go to the three day photography workshop and take thousands of photos of these beautiful horses. They are really amazing!
